Performance Coach
Position Summary:
The Performance Coach is responsible for overseeing the daily practices implemented within the gym, supporting the conditioning approaches pitch side and managing data and monitoring strategies. This operational role will manage existing departmental strategy and philosophy, aligning with the soccer and club philosophy. Core tasks include delivery of conditioning strategies within the gym and pitch side; delivery and support of return to play strategies in consultation with the medical staff; delivery of effective and innovative recovery strategies to optimize training adaptation and readiness to train.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Lead in the gym and support on the pitch to deliver a high standard, promoting high performance provision within the football performance team, promoting best practice in every aspect of your work.
• Manage data tracking and monitoring approaches that align with the Human Performance data strategy and align with the football data strategy of the club.
• Work closely with the Performance Data Scientist to align data collected through monitoring and testing practices, to ensure alignment to the club and departmental data strategy.
• Lead presentations to Human Performance Department and Head Performance Coach on key findings with the data collected and how these inform the optimization of the team’s physical performance.
• Lead delivery of gym and pitch-based strength and conditioning sessions, supporting the performance staff and driving innovative and best practice.
• Lead the design and delivery of team preparation for training and games.
• Contribute to the development of injury risk reduction strategies within the department to optimize player availability and performance.
• Manage training and game physical data monitoring strategies to ensure accurate and reliable data is provided to inform decision making instant and future decision making.
• Lead the physical performance and testing of all players and provide efficient reporting streams to the Human Performance Department.
• Support planning of team logistics, planning and short-medium- and long-term training strategies and apply these principles when considering the design and delivery of individual and team training plans within the gym and pitch sessions.
• Manage reviews of individual KPI’s for players and collaboratively work with the Human Performance Team to enhance daily delivery with a focus of achieving these KPI’s.
Desired Skills:
• Proficiency with AMS platforms.
• Understanding of rehabilitation approaches to optimize the athletes return to play.
• Ability to travel to all away matches and other trips with the team.
• Ability to speak Spanish is preferred but not required.
• To be able to work flexible hours where the role of the job requires.
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Physical Education, or related field or National Federation’s equivalent.
• Preferred: Master’s Degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Physical Education, or related field
• A minimum of three (3) years of full-time experience at the professional level OR five (5) years of full-time experience at the MLSNEXT or Elite Academy, NCAA or U SPORTS level as a strength and conditioning specialist
• Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) certification by the NSCA (National Strength and Conditioning Association), or Performance Enhancement Specialist (PES) certification by the NASM (National Academy of Sports Medicine)
• Certified Performance Sport Specialist (CPSS), USAW, CPT-NASM, CES, and XPS
• CPR and AED certification
• HIPAA compliance Course and Health Information Certification required.
The selected candidate must pass a background check.
Salary Range: $80,000-$90,000
