Security Operator

Department: Infrastructure/Stadium Ops
Location: Washington, DC

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Security Operator will be a key contributor to the security operations team on a daily basis and in the event of a crisis that would disrupt the continuity of the organization’s safe and secure business operations. This could include, but is not limited to, natural disasters, workplace violence, facility emergencies, fire and issues of serious injury or illness. Security Operator positions require heavy use of computer operating systems, patrolling the facility & several specialized skills. All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and property policies, practices, and procedures. Depending on scheduling needs, Security Operators may be assigned to different shifts outside of their preferred days and times to provide sufficient 24/7 coverage at Audi Field.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensures high-quality security services at Audi Field to protect both people and property.
  • Communicates effectively with the security teams at Audi Field and Inova Performance Center. Behave in a manner that contributes to a respectful, positive, and productive work culture.
  • Operate computers and technological systems to monitor stadium activities, archive video evidence, and check for malfunctions. Monitor areas and personnel to enforce policies, identify suspicious activity, and deter fraud and theft.
  • Actively observe and review video then complete required documentation regarding specific incidents including but not limited to guest complaints, procedure errors, risk management issues, theft, and variances.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of security operations and any non-public information learned as an employee. Reports safety concerns, security breaches and unusual circumstances both verbally and in writing to the appropriate staff.
  • Act as a dispatcher to relay information, messages and/or emergencies to or from appropriate personnel using telephones or two-way radios. Handle security issues and emergency situations, contacting Emergency Services as needed.
  • Patrol premises to maintain order, remove trespassers, and secure exits, doors, and windows during and after event operations.
  • Relay information, messages, and emergencies to appropriate personnel using phones or radios. Present information effectively to customers, clients, and employees.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be 21 or older and qualify for a DC security license. Maintain active status of all required licenses and carry them while on duty.
  • Complete a background investigation, drug/alcohol test, and have no felony convictions to receive employment.
  • Must possess strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with all personnel and the public professionally and use initiative and judgment within guidelines.
  • Ability to maintain satisfactory attendance and punctuality.
  • Must be able to prepare clear, legible written reports and logs, and have strong computer skills.
  • Must successfully complete all mandatory legal paperwork, defensive tactics, first aid, security licensing and CPR/AED training as a condition of employment.
  • The job requires working in a high activity, crowded outdoor venue, with exposure to varying and extreme weather conditions (this includes heat, cold, rain, and snow elements).
  • Employees must stand for long periods, walk or run long distances, climb stairs, and lift or move up to 50 pounds.
