Performance Dietician/Nutritionist

Position Summary:

The Performance Dietician/Nutritionist is responsible for providing and overseeing individual and team nutritional and dietary requirements, to help optimize performance, training adaptation and recovery. They will be required to be in attendance of all training sessions and game days. Coordinating and developing daily menus and liaising with hotels and other hospitality facilities during periods of travel, including pre-season. The primary responsibilities of the Performance Dietician/Nutritionist include; counseling individuals and groups on daily nutrition for performance and health; translating the latest scientific evidence into practical sports nutrition recommendations; testing, monitoring and tracking of athletes anthropometric data, hydration status and dietary and supplementation adherence, with the goal of optimizing player performance; coordinating menus to cater for the dietary needs of the players in relation to the type of training or game exposure expected that day; and maintaining professional competency and skills required for professional practice.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Delivery of a high standard, promoting high performance provision within the football performance team. Promoting best practice within every aspect of your work.
  • Lead the development of individual nutrition plans for players across the club. Coordinating with the Human Performance Team to ensure they complement game and training days.
  • Liaise with members of the Human Performance Team to identify where nutritional interventions would optimize performance and player health.
  • Lead the planning and delivery of nutrition practices, inclusive of menus, within training and game days across the club. Coordinating with the Human Performance Team to ensure they complement game and training days.
  • Manage the supplementation provision across the club.
  • Plan, deliver and report measures to quantify the success of nutritional interventions i.e. the individual player anthropometric and body composition status (not exclusive to).
  • Overseeing pre-post-during training nutrition strategy, considering the daily/weekly/monthly training demands, aligning to the training and game schedules.
  • Participate within the multi-disciplinary team review meetings, feeding back key nutritional information.
  • In consultation with the lead performance and data coach, align all nutritional strategies to optimize adaptation, recovery and enhance player performance.
  • Attend all game days, as required and provide the required nutritional support to contribute to optimizing performance.
  • Development of resources and visual material to enhance the nutritional engagement across the playing staff.
  • Maintain appropriate and accurate records in line with club and the Human Performance Department policies.
  • Deliver educational sessions for individuals and the team, to enhance understanding and engagement with nutritional approaches.
  • Comply with all Club policies.

  • To be able to work flexible hours where the role of the job requires.
  • Work alongside other team members to support in other areas of the organization as and when required to promote best practice.
  • Willingness to attend training courses to enhance own professional development.

Desired Skills:

  • Proficiency with Microsoft packages and data tracking systems
  • Degree qualified and a registered/certified dietician or nutritionist
  • Ability to travel to all away matches and other trips with the team.
  • Ability to speak Spanish is preferred, but not required.

Wage Range: $50,000 - $70,000
