Job Title: Director of Facilities
Location: Audi Field, Washington, D.C.
Reports To: Vice President of Operations and Stadium General Manager
Position Summary:
The Director of Facilities at Audi Field will be responsible for overseeing all facility operations, including managing the engineering and janitorial teams. This role will ensure the stadium is maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness, safety, and functionality, supporting events such as D.C. United matches, Washington Spirit matches, DC Defenders games, concerts, and other large-scale events. The Director of Facilities will focus on optimizing facility performance, ensuring operational efficiency, and coordinating timely maintenance and repairs while overseeing compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership & Management:
- Lead, mentor, and manage the engineering and janitorial teams, ensuring efficient daily operations and alignment with organizational goals.
- Develop and implement training programs to ensure staff are knowledgeable in safety protocols, operational procedures, and industry best practices.
- Create and manage staff schedules, ensuring proper coverage for all events and day-to-day facility needs.
- Facility Operations & Maintenance:
- Oversee the maintenance of all stadium systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and life safety systems, ensuring maximum uptime and operational efficiency.
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules for all facility systems to prevent disruptions and minimize repair costs.
- Ensure cleanliness and sanitation standards across the entire stadium, including during and after events.
- Vendor & Contract Management:
- Coordinate with vendors and service providers for specialized maintenance, repairs, and cleaning services as needed.
- Negotiate contracts for equipment, supplies, and services to ensure cost-effective solutions without sacrificing quality.
- Event Support:
- Coordinate with the events and operations teams to ensure the stadium is event-ready, including pre-event setups, post-event breakdowns, and operational support during events.
- Work closely with other departments to respond to operational needs and ensure seamless event execution.
- Budgeting & Cost Control:
- Prepare and manage the department’s annual budget, ensuring cost control across engineering and janitorial operations.
- Identify opportunities for operational improvements and cost savings, such as energy efficiency initiatives or the in-sourcing of certain services.
- Health, Safety & Compliance:
- Ensure all facilities adhere to local, state, and federal regulations, including health, safety, environmental, and building codes.
- Maintain records of inspections, incidents, and compliance documents to meet audit requirements.
- Facility Improvement Projects:
- Identify and prioritize capital improvement projects for the stadium, such as equipment upgrades, renovations, and infrastructure improvements.
- Oversee project planning, coordination, and execution for all facility-related projects.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Operations, or a related field preferred.
- 7+ years of experience in facilities management, preferably in a stadium, large venue, or multi-use facility.
- Proven leadership experience managing engineering and janitorial teams.
- Strong understanding of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
- Experience managing budgets, negotiating contracts, and working with vendors.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities, including nights, weekends, and holidays during events.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in a sports venue or entertainment facility.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.
Anticipated pay: $85,000 - $95,000
