Academy Goalkeeper Coach

Department: Youth Development
Location: Leesburg, VA

Position Summary:

The Goalkeeper Coach for D.C. United’s Academy will oversee the planning and administration of all aspects of the Academy Goalkeepers. Responsibilities include but are not limited to; recruitment and retention of qualified goalkeepers, teaching, training and skill development. In addition, this role aids in the holistic development of all DCU Academy players, serving as a role model and positive image for D.C. United. This position reports to the Director of Academy and Player Development.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all aspects of Academy goalkeeping development
  • Implement effective training and game plans utilizing D.C. United’s curriculum and game model
  • Identify, assess, and recruit prospective goalkeepers
  • Create, implement, and oversee individual player development plans and scouting reports
  • Ensure all appropriate safety guidelines and standards are maintained during training, and games

Desired Qualifications:

  • Previous experience with coaching and recruiting competitive goalkeepers
  • Knowledge of and ability to follow D.C. United/MLS policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of MLS, MLS Next Pro, and MLS Next Level soccer
  • Working knowledge of video analysis platforms including Hudl
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Willingness to travel
  • Ability to speak Spanish is preferred, but not required
  • Must be able to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
  • The selected candidate must provide proof of Covid vaccination and pass a background check.

Salary Range: $50,000 - $60,000
