Human Performance Intern - Summer 2025

Department: Soccer Operations
Location: Leesburg, VA

JOB SUMMARY

The Intern Performance Coach will assist with the development and implementation of strength and conditioning training for D.C. United’s teams in accordance with departmental vision and objectives. They will work in conjunction with and under the supervision of the human performance staff, and deliver sessions as directed. Also assisting with the daily logistical set ups for training and preparing the performance environment. The Intern Performance Coach will be required at team training sessions, and on occasion matches, and tournaments, as directed by the Director of Human Performance. They are also expected to assist with the testing and monitoring of the player’s physical and mental profiles.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist with performance testing
  • Assist with gym and pitch conditioning sessions
  • Assist with the monitoring of athletes during training
  • Assist with the monitoring and supervision of athletes in the gym
  • Assist with data collection and the implementation of standardized testing and monitoring
  • Assist with the preparation of the performance areas for training, testing and clearing the areas at the end of the day in preparation for the next
  • Support the human performance team as required

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Completed or working towards a degree qualification in sports science/strength and condition/health science or any related field
  • Must be currently enrolled in school and receiving course credit for the internship
  • The selected candidate must pass a background check and provide proof of Covid vaccination.
